Gita is running for City Councillor to bring compassionate, community-focused leadership to City Hall. She will raise a strong voice against increasing property taxes and advocate for the responsible use of taxpayer dollars with accountability and transparency. Gita is committed to being a stronger voice for seniors, women, and youth programs and activities.

She is dedicated to addressing the everyday issues that matter most to residents, including infrastructure improvements, integrity in leadership, strengthening safer communities, and ensuring residents’ concerns are heard and addressed. Gita also strongly supports Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), believing that every resident deserves respect, equal opportunities, and a true sense of belonging in our community. She also supports improved parking solutions, enhanced recreation opportunities, and better traffic management to help create a stronger, safer, and more connected city for everyone.

Gita Dawadi Dhakal is a registered candidate for City Councillor in Wards 3 & 4 in Brampton. Gita has called Brampton home for many years.

Gita started her career as a teacher. In Canada, she continued her education and earned two diploma certificates. She is also a dedicated community volunteer and currently serves as a community ambassador with the Peel Regional Police.

Gita was recognized for her leadership and volunteer social work with an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) in Leadership and Volunteer Social Work from Kennedy University. She also serves as the Women Vice President of NRNA NCC Canada.

A passionate social worker and community advocate, Gita is the wife of a social activist and a proud mother of an engineer son and a nurse daughter. She remains actively involved in volunteer and community service work, with a strong commitment to supporting hard working families, seniors, youth, and women across Wards 3 & 4 — and she also advocates these values in her run for City Council.
